The following prayer request has been received from FBC, Aledo:
We just got back from Tyler being with Jeremy Pressley’s family. Jeremy is in ICU and will be there for the next few days. For those that may not recall, Jeremy was approved and hired a few months back to lead the music for the youth on Wednesday nights in the chapel. He is paid hourly for a few hours each week. Jeremy works for the City of Fort Worth also. Jeremy and his wife Alicia have also been attending FBC for the past several months. Alicia is 9 weeks pregnant with their first child.
Jeremy was with the high school kids from church this weekend at Rockin C. They were taking a group picture, sitting on a large net just before leaving this morning. A support holding the net snapped and Jeremy fell 10-15 feet and suffered a compression fracture to his L1 vertebra. He was taken by ambulance to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and was rushed into surgery Jeremy will be in Tyler for about a week and then they expect he will start rehab, possibly in Dallas. The doctors put rods & screws in his back. The extent of the damage won’t be known for a while. Going into surgery, he had some feeling on one leg and was able to move his toes in the other leg.
The doctor came out after surgery and did not seem very positive. He said the spinal canal had been shattered at his L1 vertebra and the spinal cord sheath was lacerated by the bone fragments. He said the situation was very unstable and that the full extent of recovery from a spinal injury might not be known for 12-18 months.
Immediately following, we prayed with the family. We know that many others were praying – there was much communication via phone call, text message, and even Facebook. Also, I think there was a prayer gathering up at the church. About 15 or 20 minutes after the doctor left, Alicia got a call from the ICU that Jeremy was showing movement in both legs. Clearly God’s healing power was with Jeremy.
Please be in prayer for Jeremy, Alicia, their unborn child, and their families. Also, please pray for the kids who witnessed this tragic accident and for Micah and the other adults that were there.
Emmanuel Baptist Church will host an information meeting for Disaster Relief Minister on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00am. Representatives from Texas Baptist Men will be on hand to help us explore the different options for a Parker Baptist Association Disaster Relief Unit. Attendees will have a chance to fill out a survey expressing their interests in a unit.
Any members of Parker Association churches (men and women) who are interested in disaster relief ministry are invited to attend. If you have not yet received the basis Disaster Relief training (yellow cap), a training session will be scheduled for early 2010.

Parker Baptist Association
Cost: $150/person
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm
PREPARE/ENRICH is a customized couple assessment completed online that identifies a couple’s strength and growth areas. Based on a couple’s assessment results, a trained facilitator provides 4-8 feedback sessions in which the facilitator helps the couple discuss and understand their results as they are taught proven relationship skills. Over 2.5 million couples have taken the PREPARE/ENRICH Program (5 million people) since it began in 1980.
PBA has subsidized the cost of the training, and a small number of scholarships are available if further assistance is needed.
